I just bought the Model 4108, but I keep hearing everyone talk about a new Discovery model.

The Roomba I have does not have any "name" on the top like I've seen on other models.

I'm wondering if I got an older model instead of a newer Discovery.

Here are some pics of it:

Don't worry, you have a Discovery model.

Yours is the sage colored new model that is just called "Roomba". There are 4 models in the new Discovery series. The entry level Roomba Red, the Roomba (sage), the Roomba Discovery and the Roomba Discovery SE.

They all function pretty much identically, the only difference is the bundled accessories.

The key difference between your model and the Discovery is that the Discovery comes bundled with the self charging homebase and the wall mount. Your model normally doesn't come with those items, but I see that you have the homebase, so you basically have all of the functionality of a Discovery already. In my opinion, the homebase is indispensable, but the wall mount is pretty much useless. You can buy it separately, but unless you plan on hanging your Roomba on the wall, there is no need for it.

Thanks!

I bought the charger separately and I have not even taken the wall mount out of the box. Like you said, it seems useless since I got the charging base.

I thought the Discovery SE was a higher powered unit, but after ordering I'm finding it was only the extras that raised the price. Really I would have been happy just with the charging unit and no home base or wall mount. The wall mount will probably just take up space on an already overcrowded shelf. But, so far it's doing the job I bought it for and I'm happy with my Roomba - just wished I would have saved myself some money and got the red or sage one.

Well, if you bought your Discovery SE from Hammacher Schlemmer, you also got a lifetime gaurantee, which is nothing to sneeze at!!
