Just bought my first Roomba and cannot get it to work. Battery never seems to charge. Guess I will be returning it. Merry Christmas. Has anyone else had this problem?

Bought new Roomba Discovery from Amazon.com. As usual, Amazon delivered on time BUT headaches followed:
1. Charged as instructed and ran it - cleaned three rooms beautifully. Never did find its charging station automatically - had to place it there.
THEN ...
2. Damned thing would NOT RUN FOR MORE THAN a couple of m inutes then STOPPED ... BEEPED 5 times and quite with the RED status light on and the CLEAN light flashing.
DOES THE SAME THING REPEATEDLY AFTER SHUTTING IT OFF AND WAITING A FEW MINUTES AND STARTING OVER. SAME RESULT AS in @. above.
Called customer service for assistance!

Sounds like the battery is dead. Have you tried recharging it?

:D My Roomba Discovery is the greatest thing I have acquired in years!
It has worked perfectly since I got it 3 months ago, and I use it almost daily to keep the dog hair swept from the garage floor.
I never bothered with installing thing so it can find its way back to the charger, but the things that control its path with a beam do just that. |
