Out of the box, this HSN unit ( sage color ) worked fine on carpet and tile floors.
Next day though, following a recharge, it stopped working after 2 minutes on carpet but still behaves nicely on the tile.
When the unit fails on the carpet, the status light turns amber and the battery light remains green....mission abandoned. The "beeps" imply that the brushes (as told to me by iRobot) are the cause.
When running on the carpet, the unit seems to "buck" a bit.
My only thought is that the brush cage is dragging across the carpet.
Is there something that limits the drop of the brush cage? I'm wondering because there is a severed white cord on my unit that conceivably would limit the drop of the cage itself when placed on the floor. You have to peek behind the brush cage to see this white cord where it is definitely affixed to the base of the unit ...but the other end is just dangling there.

I see another person attributes the problem to a "bad cell" in the battery.
How do you deternine that on this unit?
