| I have a beautiful area rug, but it has a black background with dark colors as the design.. Will that bother the sensors??? |

It shouldn't. The Roomba can't see colors or designs as far as I know.

| Chances are the Roomba Discovery won't transition between the rug and the floor its on. It has an issue with black outer lines, it seems to think they are cliffs. |

That is what I was wondering.. I hope if I start it on the black area carpet it will work out onto the beige w2w carpet..
Well if it won't work at least I can return it...
But then I will be sad... |

I've just bought an area rug, and my original Roomba that has worked great for over 2 years so far, thinks that the black lines in the design of the rug are cliffs, and refuses to clean the whole rug!
Since I don't have any cliffs, is there a way to de-activate cliff sensors? |

| If you tape over the four sensors in the front it will go over the carpet. It will also fall over stairs but since you said you don't have any it shouldn't be a problem. |

Check out the previous conversation on this topic.
Simply put, taping over the sensors fixes it.
