I bought a Roomba Discovery from Sharper Image and had it shipped to the UK. I bought an appropriate mains adapter, and when I plug it into the Roomba directly, everything works fine. However, if I connect it to the docking station, the Roomba finds its way "home", and connects up to the docking station. The green "Docked" light on the docking station comes on, and the power light on Roomba fades slowly in and out, just like it does when it's charging through the mains adapter. But that's it. It doesn't actually charge, just looks like it is! So I can't use my docking station. Has anyone else had this happen? Anyone find a solution? Or is it a fault?

As an addition to this, I just measured the voltages. My mains adapter is giving 22V, but the voltage from the docking station is only 4.3V. Is that a sign of a faulty Home Base?

From what you are describing, it does sound like your home base is defective. I don't know if iRobot will ship replacements to the UK, but they will replace it under warranty if you can get them to ship it to you.

Thanks. I suspected as much. I don't think it's even worth trying iRobot. I had a problem with my old Roomba, and when I emailed them they just said that no support or warranty was offered to UK owners, as they do not officially supply to the UK. But I have tried the shop I bought it from to see what they can do. Fingers crossed.

I have the same problem you described. I have an SE from Hammacher Schlemmer. It looks like it's charging but after some time, the green light just goes black.

I'm going to email IRobot and see what they say.

If it's any help, I contacted Sharper Image, and they sent me replacement Docking Station (usefully, it also included a new mains transformer meaning I now have a spare one). It works fine now, so the fault lay with the Docking Station for sure.

I called up IRobot and it seems like they are aware of the problem. They are sending me a new docking station. It'd be great if I get a new transformer. Should get it in about 10 days.

Hi,
It looks like I have the same problem. I bought a Roomba Discover in the US a while ago (I'm from the Netherlands). My Roomba won't charge. The voltage from the docking is 4,5 volt. Is it supposed to be 22 volts? And will another docking station cure my problem?
