I was repyling to a message during the commercials of my favorite TV show. It appearantly took me too long to leave the message, and I got a VERY weird error message. I clipped it to post here. Here's what it said... Sent to hell. Jeeze. Web master's a little intense, huh?

Information

Mistake! There was an attempt of an automatic insert of the message in a forum. Your message is sent to hell. Try still times who knows - can it will turn out? Still probably, that you too long wrote the message - then pass to page back, copy the text, update page, insert the copied text and press button "Send".

Yes, I got the same message the other night. And the message was correct because I was in the middle of making a post on the forum and was interrupted for a short time. When I finally got back to the computer and finished what I was typing and tried to send it..........I was sent to that same page.

I've been seeing this more and more over the past couple days.
The behavior suggests a timeout in actually storing the message in the forum's underlying database.
I've found I can get around it by clicking "Preview" before clicking "Submit".

Well apparently this is still not fixed, as I got the same wierd error message today after I took too long to type out a message. This is what comes some times from out-sourcing.

Yeah; I've noticed that the home page comes up very quickly, but the forums are incredibly slow. Then I got an error earlier today which said something like:

phpbb: unable to contact database

I think the database is overloaded. I'm a web developer, and so I've seen this kind of thing before (especially during load tests). Some hosting providers put the database on a separate server; some have it on the same box as the web server. With the good performance of the static front page, I think it is the former (though there's no way for me to tell--the site owner would have to jump in here). It may be that the shared database server is getting killed, either by this site or some other site that is sharing it. I would encourage the owner of the site to contact the host and find out if there's a problem.

I've already reported this thread to the moderators, asking the site owner to step in and see what can be done. Thanks for your insight by the way.

LOL!

I apologize for the strange error. It is some code that I inserted into the message board that was supposed to prevent the spam which we had been getting more and more frequently lately.

Obviously, the author of the modification that I installed doesn't speak English as a first language, hence the bizarre error message. Still, the theory was that no people would see the message, and only robots would be 'banished to hell'. ;)

I will remove it today, and I apologize if it offended anyone, or for any problems that you might have experienced because of it.

Regards,
Craig

You got it, the database is on another Server, which does appear to be having response issues.

I was hoping the problem would clear itself up, but it obviously has not. I will look into cleaning up the Database, which hopefully will improve response times.

Craig

Ok, I have just completed the upgrade, and the forum database has been moved to a new, faster server.

Both of these issues should now be resolved. If anyone still experiences either of these problems, please let me know.

Regards,
Craig
