New Roomba Discovery, purchased in December from sharperimage.com.
Put the machine into service Christmas eve, and it has worked brilliantly for the last month. All of a sudden, when the charger is plugged into the home base, the green light on the charger blinks, as do the "Power" and "Docked" lights on the home base. When the charger is plugged directly into the Roomba, it stays lit solid green, but it does not appear to have any effect on the Roomba (the robot doesn't charge, power on or respond in any way).
I have checked the voltages: 22V straight out of the charger, the home base fluctuates between 1 and 4 volts.
I am going to be calling iRobot tomorrow, and though I have read great things about their customer service, I have had very bad experiences with other companies - so I am going in skeptical.
Anyone on this forum have any ideas? |

They are great, so don't worry about calling. If it's something that they can't fix with you in 5 minutes over the phone, they simply send you out a brand new one.
One thing you can try first is to remove the battery and then hold down the power button for about a minute. This will totally drain the capacitors and fully reset the Roomba.

| Thanks so much for your advice, Rick. Our two month-old Roomba was also not holding a charge properly, but after removing the battery and holding down the Power button as you suggested it's back to its old self. |
