I'd love to buy a Roomba, but don't know which one to get. I want lots of power, short charge time -- and don't know what else to look for. I have lots of tile, but also thick carpet (will it go from one to another?). Don't care if it has a remote or not (really, I'm not THAT lazy to sit and WATCH the thing work!). Also, if anyone knows the best pricing, I'd love that, too (but need to know which one to get first).

My Roomba Red goes from the hard wood to the medium berber rug (without carpetpad) easily but the charge time is long. I intend to upgrade to the homebase for the faster charge time....

I don't have the remote but can't imagine needing one. Would love to hear from owners who have them. Are they really that useful?

A good combo which a lot of us have is the Roomba Red plus the home base. You can get the home base for $45 delivered from Amazon, and it also includes the 2 /12 hour fast charger.

The remote can be handy for accessing the MAX clean function, and possibly for people who are physically challenged, but I personally don't use it. You can get the codes at Remote Central and program almost any universal remote to control the Roomba though if you want to.
