I wrote irobot about this and they are sending me a replacement but I can't help but think it's going to happen again. So while I wait I thought I would try and re-attach the broken arm. I'm wondering if anyone else has had any luck with this? Specifically what method did you use to re-attach the arm? glue? heat? some sort of mechanical remedy? Most glues don't seem to like this rubbery soft blue plastic.
Thanks for your time. |

The Roomba importer/reseller in Finland has this fix posted on their webpage. I.e. cut off all but two opposite brush-arms :)
And they are the officcial service partner for iRobot in Finland, so they should know what they're talking about |

Guys wait before you go cutting off any arms on your side brush. iRobot are aware of this problem and have now redesigned these brushes, although they don't publish this fact admittedly.
The new brushes I've seen so far are white and not red and feel much tougher than the previous ones. Take a look on eBay a few are already for sales there. :) |

Actually while I'm at it, i may as well attach a picture and tell you that the Roomba Exchange site definitely stocks these new side brushes, which is where the pic is from...

| I simply contacted iRobot support for replacement side brushes under warranty. They arrived in about 5 days. |

Tanks for this tip June. My Roomba have the new white side brush but did have trouble running over the lightweight carpet in my living room - it just get stocked in the side brushes and turn arround - until now. Now it runs smoothly over the carpet. :D |

I contacted irobot and they told me the side brushes are on backorder--yet, they are available for purchase on their istore site. I thought a warranty was supposed to cover defects. I am not too happy at the moment that irobot is blowing me off after spending $212 for a 535. A great product, no doubt, but service after the sale is not so good.
On edit:
Well, iRobot finally got back to me and have sent the side brush (new, 3-arm white one) and are sending the bumper strip.
I happy again and would/will buy another Roomba but come on guys, stock up on known defective parts. Admittedly, the wait wasn't that long, though. |
