I just bought the discovery SE, I am watching in amazement as my new best friend cleans my house. However, I am dissappointed with the directions & manual instruction "Empty the bin over a trash barrel after each use. Don't forget to remove the filter assembly and empty the 2nd chamber" Well, where is that & how do you do it? The only other literature I recieved was a catalog for additional equipment. Help, it sounds like maintenance is key........

I have a Roomba Red, but it should be similar.

When you pull off the dust bin, there is a bright yellow strip that has some sort of instructions saying that you should pull there. That yellow is partof the tray that holds the filter. One of the 2 rubber vacuum pieces comes with it on mine.

The Roomba works by brushing stuff into the bin on top of the filter, and vacuuming stuff on the bottom of the filter. The filter winds up looking like the lint trap on your clothes dryer, and should be cleaned just like in a clothes dryer.

Hope it helps, and sorry for the vagueness since I'm at work and am doing this by memory

You can download the manuals, in pdf format, from www.irobot.com. Go to that URL, then link to Roomba pp., then watch for a Customer-Service link and take that. Somewhere in there, you will find the down-load options.
