Hi all,
I find I get dirt accumulating in an odd place. I've attached a link to a pic of it. I would really appreciated if someone could tell me if it is normal or not! (the dirt is getting into that small gap in the pic)
Thanks all! :)

Yes, accumulation of debris under the Top Cover and above the Brush Deck is normal.
Instructions at iRobot suggest removing such debris by holding the Disco vertically (the open, bin-slot is down, of course) and briskly tapping the Bumper several times. That motion applies mechanical shocks to Disco, in a direction it was built to accept. You might try that; however, I have found it to be ineffective.
I have adopted a more successful approach, but if done too vigorously you are likely to break a limit-stop tab (there are two) off the Brush Deck and end up with a non-functional Disco. The process is similar to the above.
I like to have the battery removed, so that weight need not be handled, and a better grip on Disco can then be managed. Holding Disco as above, lightly shake it horizontally by moving it towards and away from you. Allow the Brush Deck to bump into its limit stops, but restrain yourself from giving it excessive mechanical shocks. Less than six bumps will release the majority of the fuzz blanket.
You might ask: "What is excessive?". It is this: Consider being able to position the tips of your little fingers between the stationary limit-stops and the moving Brush Deck; then start shaking Disco to make the Brush Deck bang into your finger tips, first, lightly, but keep increasing the shaking force. When the pain in your finger tips becomes more than you want to withstand, you are crossing into the "excessive"-force region. |

| I just pull it out with my finger, or use a can of compressed air. |

This needs to be resurrected.
Two words: crevice tool.
Takes seconds to run a crevice tool from an upright or other vacuum source along this edge (unless you get one that slips inside) but, either way, takes that dust and fur right out, right now. Effortlessly.
Those two words also apply to the dust bin and other underbelly areas of the Roomba. Trying to "knock" debris, or thinking that gravity alone is going to empty the bin effectively... well, isn't effective.
Finally, the crevice tool on vacuum completely restores the filter.
No way I'd use forced air in there, or anywhere on there. But, that's just me... (I dunno, the idea of blowing debris around rather than sucking it out just seems less effective and dangerous.) Kept my Roomba Pro Elite alive, trouble free (and ONE filter) for 18 months! |

| No way am I gonna vacuum my vacuum. I know some are opposed to compressed air, but that's what I do. I get pet hair in there BAD. The compressed air blows it back out. |

| Mine does it too but not every time. I clean mine everyday is this to much? but the other vacuum seems to clean out the Roomba the best for me. |

Well, you gotta take a stand! 8)

Well, technically, so do I. I just use repressed air. But at least I know where the debris is going when I'm at it! |

| using compressed air just moves the dust around to different areas and sure does create a mess. use a vacuum with a crevice tool attached |
