After making some enquiries, I just received an email from the Products Manager at Salton Australia. He informed me as of feb 05 Salton have become the sole agent for Roomba in Australia and New Zealand.
It also stated that the Discovery serious are being rolled out to Harvery Norman stores as we speak!
Fantastic news for us Aussies and Kiwis concered with warranty and service issues......

Just saw the latest Harvey Norman catelogue. They will be selling the Roomba Discovery for $599 AUD.
Salton Australia is (according to Harvey Norman), about to start a very large advertising campaign in Australia. |

| I must say that price is $%^&*( stupid, noone in the right mind is going to pay that if they know they can get one on the internet for 2/3s or even 1/2 that! |

Whilst I agree the price is crazy, I might be inclined to pay it if it provides me with a good warranty (which we all know these units require).
As it stands now, any Roomba purchased overseas and brought into Australia or NZ has no warranty at all..... |

I have to agree they suffer from problems. But if you remove the problems that are actually repairable like the circle of death, and insure you clean them regulary, they are quite reliable...

I baught one of the original Roombas from the USA from The Sharper Image web site.
I paid extra for the 3 year warranty, and after 2.5 years mine gave up the ghost.
I emailed Sharper Image and returned the faulty unit (It did cost me about AU$70 postage) and had the new model (I requested an upgrade and expected to pay the difference) Discovery a week later. :P
I wasnt charged the extra to upgrade. I still have to modify the power supply, but Im still ahead.
Still cheaper than Normal. :wink:

Does anyone know where I can get a new battery for my roomba discovery?
I have tried getting it from harvey norman, but they always say they have to order it in and then call me about the details. I have tried at 3 different stores and none of them have called me back, they're god dam hopeless.

Its a bummer that your having problems with Harvey Norman (not surprising tho). Im after new filters so hopefully they get their act together soon! |

Listed price is $688 NZD. |
