The Home Base unit just started blinking! Both lights blink on the Home Base Unit and the power light on the Roomba binks red.
Any ideas?
I tried unplugging the unit for a few hours and then plugged it back in but still the same blinking lights appear. Could the battery on the Roomba be dead already? It's not even a year old!

Well, first things first. Try plugging the fast charger directly into the Roomba and see if it charges. That way you'll know if your problem is related to your homebase or not.

Thanks for your reply.
I plugged the fast charger directly into the Roomba and the light pulsed red but would also blink during the pulse. Sounds strange......Also when I just have the Home Base Unit plugged in without the Roomba docked it's lights also blink.

Does anybody know what those lights mean? It would be nice for IRobot to put some sort of a code on the website that would tell us what all the different lights and such mean.

according to irobot try removing the battery then push and hold the power button down for 30 sec. this should drain the capacitors and reset the roomba.

Ok....I called IRobot and asked them. They said that I most likely had a power surge or a power outage that caused to quick charged to malfunction. They're sending me a new quick charger and a new home base unit free of charge!
That's the kind of customer service more companies should adopt!

hi,

I had blinking lights on my home base, and that means the home base and fast charger are fried (electrical short due to storm or power surge etc...) Apparently, the robot is trained not to go to home base if the base has been fried. Don't attempt to plug the fast charger directly into the robot like I did since I ended up frying the robot too. Irobot people were nice and sent me a whole new robot, home base and charger but it came piece meal and I had to wait 4 months total. If you find your home base is fried/blinking but your robot seems fine, all you have to do is replace the chargers (both pieces) and keep the robot. If you read this too late and you have fried your robot, keep all removable parts like filter, cage, brush, and battery. THROW out the robot and chargers since any new part that comes in contact with the fried pieces will be toast again. I have my new robot and home base plugged into a surge protector now.
Hope that helps...
