| I just purchased a 540 at Sam's Club for 199.81. Added the 3 yr service plan for 39.85. with tax total price 259.43. I have found in the past that if there is a problem Sam's will refund the entire 259.43. |

Hi - I'm new to this forum.
We just bought a house with mostly ceramic tile and I finally decided I really want a Scooba. I've been burned before by doing diligent research on an expensive product, only to be disappointed by the product after the warranty expires, so if I'm going to spend $250+ I want to buy from somewhere with a "no questions asked return policy", instead of jumping on one of the great refurb deals @ Amazon. Or am I wrong on this point??
That being said, what is your best advice for me? Should I go with Hammacher or Bed Bath & Beyond (the ones I keep reading have great return policies)? I just want to know that if my Scooba dies in 6 months I can get my money back or a replacement?
I don't have a Costco or Sam's Club membership -- but I think Costco has one for around $250 that has 2 virtual walls instead of just 1 -- so if that's a superior offering AND they have a great return policy I wouldn't mind getting a membership.
Please help me! I have a headache from doing all this research :) |

go with costco, if they have the product you want. i think even if you dont' have a membership you can still buy online for an extra 5% (at least you used to be able to) but if they have it at your local costco the "cash and carry" price may be less than the online shpp inc price.
costco told me they will take the product back anytime if you're not satisfied. they've always been very liberal in past with returns. linens n things is 60 days, i think, and hsn.com is 60 days. |

| Does anyone have any idea when Dirt Dog goes on sale on Frys.com (Outpost.com) for $89.99 plus shipping (or maybe even free shipping)? I have seen $89.99 on three separate occasions between 01/08 and 02/08 but have yet seen the $85 plus free shipping offer so far this year. |

i saw it once for that price but no free shipping, that was a bit bf Christmas.
amazon.com has it for 111.56 with free shipping, if you have to pay sales tax for frys it could work out a bit cheaper at present price of 99.99. |

| For a limited time, Frys.com (Outpost.com) now has Roomba Red 4300 for $99.99 plus shipping (and applicable sales tax for some states). Is it a good deal? The home base with fast charger is selling for $49.99 on Amazon.com, so one would be paying ~$160 for both. But a Roomba 535 from HSN.com only costs another $50-$60 more. Tough decision! |

i saw that too, and i think if you're not set on the home base and the fast charger it makes a decent second bot. both the hsn 535 package and this red one only come with one VW.
if you're a bit of a risk-taker and a bit handy i'd say check out a refurbo-bot from buy.com---great accessory package (home base, fast charger, scheduling remote, two VWs) for about 120, but only 90 day warranty and you might get a fixed wheel, and of course refurb is a roll of the dice, if that is an issue for you. otherwise if you're not in a huge hurry, hang out at woot.com and hope for another deal like the one they had at the wootoff last night (club pack scheduler, brand new, with extra brushes and filters, for 149.99 plus 5 shipping) or last month (pet scheduler for 160 plus 5 shipping). |

They had refurb Schedulers during the day for 99 bucks! |

| Does anyone know if the 535 from HSN has on-board scheduling? Also, are they still shipping 540's in place of the 535's? |

the 535 can be scheduled with a wireless command center. no on board scheduling. if scheduling is important for you, consider the 550 from costco.com. it's 290 shipped, 280 cash n carry at my local costco, has TWO vw's (535 only has one) *and* onboard scheduling. also 3 extra filters (vs one with the 535). and 4 C batteries. and a return-at-anytime policy vs hsn's 60 d. if you're not a costco member you can pay an extra 5% on the website.
i just checked hsn.com. 535 is sold out. |

Yeah I know I missed that refurbo deal on wootoff (like i really need another bot) but that deal could potentially be replicated on buy.com if you get a buy.com visa and take 30 bucks off , or 10 bucks off w/ a new google checkout. But that club pack deal was killer---brand new, 1 yr warranty, pretty gray color, and I think something like two extra sets of brushes (that's what, forty bucks right there?) and maybe some extra other things too, but I'm hesitating and thinking OK I need another bot like I need a whack on the head, but this is *such* a great deal, and I click on "i want one" and log in and wham, I get the "sold out" screen.
Heh heh. Chris thinks I need to attend Roomba AA meetings. As if. |

I noticed tonight that Frys (aka Outpost.com) has the dirt dog for $89.99 plus shipping. But, on the initial page showing the DD it came up as $99.99. After clicking on the DD, it brought up another page showing $89.99. I added it to my cart, and the price remained $89.99.... they ship fast and pretty cheap (under $10 for my zip)...
DD's are great. Mine gets litterbox duty (well, scattered-litter and tracked-litter duty). I empty the dust bin, but I haven't had to worry about the brushes at all.
EDIT: Update 2/24: this price info is no longer true. Main page says $99 & once in cart, it's still $99. |

I've seen the 530s on sale for $270, it is worth it or not? A friend showed me this
is that what I will be getting? If so, I'll get one tomorrow. |

That is a video of a Roomba 535.
$270 is not a bad price for a 530, but if you don't mind ordering online, the Roomba 535 is a much better value. It has more features, and costs less.

Costco.com is offering $50 off until 6/8, bringing the price for the Roomba 550 down to $240.
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11234685
The web page says it's a limited online offer, so I don't know if a discount applies as well to in-store purchases.
I went by Costco today (5/28), and it's selling for $230 in-store. |
