Hi,

I've a Yamada Vacu-40RC that I think it's a Roomba clone.
But I'm not sure of which Roomba version, I think of the original one..

Only sure thing is that the filter & battery seems exactly the same & to open it I've to unscrew the 8 screws in exact same location shown here:
http://mysite.verizon.net/gsplews/Dis-asm_Re-asm_files/accssng_interior_0604xx.htm
Or here:
http://www.tla.org/roomba/1disass.html

Anyone could confirm if I could use the same parts (replacements filters, brushes, etc.) that the Original Roombas ?

I'm attacching few lowres photos (bigger available), as you could see from the bottom one, battery's missing .. I've already RMA it .. :-(

Talking of the battery, it SHOULD (no clear answer found in the manual ..) be a 14.4V (12pcs 1.2V Ni-Cd batteries), 1500mA, on the AC Adaptor shows:
Model: TEAD-41-180400V
PRI: 230V 50HZ 75mA
SEC: 18V 400mA 7.2VA

Will it be possible to use an higher power battery (i.e. the APS's one), naturally using this power supply ??

Many Thanks in advance & Ciaoooooooooo,
Luciano

I partially answer myself .. It was already discussed in this forum as M288 (or at least seems exactly the same ..) & really seems a clone (unofficial ..) of the first Roomba series.

Sorry, I should have checked better before posting (my excuse is that I simply didn't know it has different names ..)

Info I'm still unable to find is if an higher capacity battery (like the APS) could work with this bot/PSU ..

Thanks & Ciaooooooooo,
Luciano

I'm considering getting one of these, as they are much cheaper than Roombas.

Hi,

While it lasted (dead battery after 4 months ..10Euros to RMA/ship it, still waiting the replacement ..) I was quite satisfied of this bot, it's my first one so I could not compare it with others (i.e. Roomba).

My home's quite small (something more than 50 sq. meters), I was cleaning a third of it each day & I was quite impressed expecially when it cleaned my moquetted bedroom .. full dustbin !!
I couldn't say I'm very keen on cleaning .. single guy .. :-)

I payed it 90Euros (no charge station), but right now not so cheap at least in France (starting from 159Euros on the only site selling it).

For you in UK, there is site http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132856 for 60 Pounds.
Possibly the battery is different, or at least this one shows Battery Capacity: 1700mA.

The one without charge socket (40 Pounds, out of stock) shows a Battery Capacity: 1000mA
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/127690/show_product_overview

One important thing on this bot is that it doesn't like cables, no protections like the one I saw on the romba, couple of times I found it stuck when I came back home. It eat cables quite good.. I had to take apart the brushes to remove it ..

So, a part the battery problem/duration (for which I'm still trying to see if there is the possibility to improve it with a reasonable cost) I was quite satisfied, probably not so intelligent than a Roomba but doing its job.

Ciaoooooooooooo,
Luciano
