You should re-visit (by searching for IRC2804) the page where all the stocked IRC2804 variants are displayed. There, you will be able to d/l a pdf copy of the IRC28084 Data Sheet. Read through it. You will see three alternate packages defined. In the Lead Assignments tables, pay particular attention to the fact that the heat-sink tab is electrically the same as the part's middle pin / lead (IOW, don't allow that tab to contact any metal parts in Roomba).

It is one of your original for that you said you prefered

Away on holiday for a couple of weeks now (nobody to hoover whilst i am awat though!!) So i will let you all know if it works when i get back and have time to fix it.

well guys after all this my bot is workin!! :)

The problem was brushes not turning not - no suction!!

After Gordons advice and guidance i inserted a n-channel mosfet (rfp50n06) above the U11 component in the 3 empty holes :) - read his thread about it!!
AND NOW SHE WORKS - SWEET AS A NUT ;)

Big thankyou to gordon and all the others on here that helped!

Ive just treated myself to a remote control for her now so i can schedual her to clean at set times this goes well with mycharging dock

if anybody knows any good links so i can get the most out of this little red bot i would be verygratefull !!!!!!!!!

Ah well that didnt last too long -- she is broke again!!! same fault - brushes wont turn :(
