So I need a new battery for my robot mop. I'm interested in the Li-ion battery offered by vic7767 and some roomba repair website. Apparently Li-ion has several advantages over the stock NiMH battery sold by irobot.
Has anybody here tried it?
One of my concerns is how to charge it, since my robot has the software patch to improve the way it charges NiMH batteries it may not work optimally with the different battery type. Will I need to shell out for an external charger now too?
Thanks for the advice! |

| I'm running 5 5900 Scoobas all with the LI-ion 4800 mAH kits. 3 of the Scoobas have the OSMO charging patch and two don't I charge the LI-ions both inside the Scoobas and also a couple of external chargers. WHen charging a LI-ion inside an OSMOed Scoooba when the battery reaches 99.9 percent of full charge and shuts off the Scooba displays a charging err. This in no way affects the performance of the battery and it can be used immediately after the display or you can wait and remove the battery and send it on a cleaning mission later. |

FIVE scoobas?! Wow! Your floors must be really clean!
Another question for you, I saw some other post that made it sound like their Li-ion battery was just cells. Would I need to transplant battery cells into my old battery pack, or can I order a complete unit? |

| I think that Chris, glo69 and myself offer these kits two ways. One is referred to as the "drop-in" kit and is just that. You drop it into your existing battery case. The other option is a complete LI-ion battery which includes the cells and the battery case. |
