Hello,
I have installed rechargeable AA batteries in my Lighthouses using an AA to C adapter. I have used Varta Ready2use 2100 mAh, a kind of batt with a very low self discharge rate.
The accus has been working very well for 2 weeks now. So far, no recharge has been needed.
So, no more C type non rechargeable purchases for me!

VFM, welcome to the club. I added LI-ion with a charging jack as well as an off/on switch.

I've been using Rayovac 2100mah 15-minute IC3 AA's in "C" adaptors for a few months. At first, I thought the batteries didn't have enough power because the Lighthouses weren't controlling the 550 properly. But it turned out I had the Lighthouses positioned incorrectly.
The rechargables won't last as long on a charge as standard Alkaline AA's will, but it's no problem to recharge them. The green led's on the LH's will start blinking when the batteries need to be recharged. |

Cheapest place is probably Ebay. Sellers have the AA rechargeable with the C adapter as a set. Probably just as easy to get recargeable C NIMH if you need the charger. Search rechargeable C, C adapter, or NIMH C and you will probably find them. Both the C and the AA with C adapter.

I'll be interested to hear how well those Varta Ready2use batteries hold up. I've considered rechargeables, but the original batteries in my Lighthouses are still good after about 6 months. Rechargeables would be an inconvenience for me in this case.

6 months  What brand of batteries are you using? Duracell only gives me about a month (I run my roomba daily).
