I am getting my first iRobot for Mother's Day and I am confused as to which one to purchase. Any suggestions would be helpful!!! It will need to pick up cat hair and I have a large area for it to cover.
Thanks!!!

If price is important and you have someone handy around the house for repairs if needed, get one of the closeout 4xxx series. Lots of people here love them.

If you do not want to do that and want to spend a bit more and have a long warranty, you could get a 535 on Home Shopping Network - they sell an extended warranty for $35 - or if you wish to schedule it to run automatically then go with the 550 from Costco if you are a member or a 560. The 570 from Hammacher Schlemmer comes with a virtual lifetime warranty but is pricey.

In any case, you will have to do maintenance on these. The 5xx series runs a bit longer - around 2 hours after the battery is conditioned - and will deal with tassles and cords. There have been some issues with people losing side brushes on scatter rugs but iRobot will replace them free of charge. Personally I do not have that issue.

We have a WIKI section that will give you all the info you need.

Check out the cleaning section to see what maintenance is necessary on the 5xx series. Look at the FAQ section to find out things you may need to know.

Welcome to the forum. Happy Mother's Day!
