After registering on the forum to get some advice on fixing my Roomba 560 for a gear problem I thought would let you know the first problem I encountered....
I received Roomba about 2 weeks ago removed the battery tab as per instructions and put it on charge. The red ! sign was flashing but I thought it must be normal on the 16 hour charge.
It cleaned for an hour or so before needing a charge (it must have had charge in the battery from new) and plugged it in again. The ! sign was flashing again and when I went to use it next it had no charge.
To cut a long story short...I read a lot only and it hinted that there was not a proper contact being made with the battery.
I done a test...and the results were...
! sign flashing with no battery in
! sign flashing with battery in an bottom casing screwed shut
Charging correctly with bottom casing off.
I examined the contacts on the Roomba and it appeared to me that under the pressure of the battery that they might touch one another creating a circuit that bypasses the battery. I pinched the contacts closed a little and viola Roomba charging fine and no battery problems since.
Basically from the factory my Roomba's contacts were too close to one another so I pinched them closed a little.
I thought I would mention it incase anyone else was having similar problems (from reading online I believe so) and could try it before sending it back for repairs. |

| Great troubleshooting Brian. That should help some new 5XX model pwners possibly fix their new Roombas. |

Great job, Brian! You don`t leave your robot in trouble :)! No miracles in electronics. Just faulty contacts! :lol:
