Hello
I know there are a ton of chat about this but I want to creat my own here.

I have no problem on how the Roomba 560 moves but I will be abel to say -go this way.

I would like to make a program where I can say -Clean Kitchen.

Then I would like my roomba to leave the livingroom and go to the kitchen.

I was thinking of trying to make this with RFID. So when the robot runs over the rfid tag i get a trigger and can then act on it to say stay in the kitchen and turn the roomba around and let it keep cleaning.

Then when it is finished i let it pass the rfid tag and let it out of the kitchen and to the Homebase.

I know it is alot harder then I explaind it here but the only navigation help i would give roomba is if it runs over a rfid.

Please help me to think.

/Anders

This is a good idea but did you check what Evolution Robotics is doing? I agree that voice recognition should be used in home robots.

One issue I think you are going to run into is that when the Roomba discovers a RFID tag, it will know where it is located, but not what direction it is pointing.

I would suggest having 3 or 4 of the RFID tags. Then when the first tag is detected, the Roomba keeps going straight, until it detects a 2nd one. This way it will know what general direction it is going. If the tags are along a wall, you can greatly increase the Roomba's chance of coming across one by having it go into a wall-following mode when it is commanded to go to a room.

The virtual walls can also be useful to help keep the Roomba in the room it is supposed to be in. Then when it must change rooms, it should actively seek to cross the virtual wall.
