Just received our first roomba(570) via UPS today:) Have it charging right now. Reading the quick start guide step 5 states "Let Roomba clean until it stops(up to 60 minutes)" I thought they were supposed to last 90-120min or is this only for the first time it cleans?

I'm also a brand new Roomba owner - the 550 bought at Costco day before yesterday. The first time I ran "Arr Tuu" he cleaned for over 2 hours on tile. After a recharge he ran on carpet and only operated for 1 hour.

Our carpet is quite a deep pile, but the Roomba handles it pretty well. Just watching him work, work, work is great. I can see why people get hooked on their floor robots.

The 60 minute mission time is without the Lighthouses. When the Lighthouses are in use the mission times can increase up to about 2 hours.

In my case LH really don't do much to change the time. It's more the surface that affects it. Smooth hard surfaces are easy and don't wear the battery down much. Higher pile carpet does.

I just let mine roam without LH and I get 2 hours plus on mine on laminate and high pile carpet floors. It takes about 2 weeks of wearing down the battery and recharging all the cells to finally top them off evenly which is the point of the trickle charging.

If you use LH, they will clean about 35 minutes per room then go on to the next. Since they do a max of 4 rooms that would translate to 140 minutes total.

OK, you experience is different from mine. Every time without the Lighthouses in use my 560 runs for almost exactly 1 hour, depending on how well it does locating Home Base when it decides to dock.

My 570 is run without any lighthouses (except one that is used only as a virtual wall). My run times vary from one hour 30 minutes to two hours 20 minutes.
Floor is tile, with one 8 x 10 low-pile rug.
