Hi:
I have this problem after one month I didnīt use Scooba.
I saw that the vacuum port at the base is tear. May be this explain the problem? I guess this part of the vaccum port is very exposed by friction with the floor. Everyone experienced the same situation?
I tried everything i saw in other topics with no luck.
I live in Argentina so Irobot support is not an option
thanks

luis,
The tear on the bottom of the vacuum port *might* affect it. Can you possibly take a picture of it? I don't have a tear on mine. You will want to make sure that the metal filter, and vacuum port is sitting correctly in the scooba body. If not, that will hinder vacuuming up the water as well. |

| Yes, you can try to glue it together. From the pictures it seems that is your issue with it not picking up water. Check with Chris to see if he has that part and can ship it to you. I wouldn't think that it would be too expensive to replace.. |

I can do it but as I told in my last post I glued the rubber, it remains very rigid, but the wet floor persist.
I wonder if thsi happens because I didnīt use Scooba for a long time and may be dirt or salt because I rinse it with hard water is the culprit. May be I need to order other tank.

trumperl wrote: ... I glued the rubber,..., but the wet floor persist. The part you repaired has very little to do with collecting liquid off the floor. It is associated with the "preparation" portion of floor cleaning, i.e., the pre-sweeping operation. Notice the cross-flow of air in the following picture:
The air-flow is intended to blow dry particles into the rubber duct you have been worried about. Read more about it in this page from "Scooba-5900 Technical".
Of course, some liquid can be gathered via that duct, once the floor gets wet, however, the main liquid pick-up is accomplished by the suction-squeegee that trails the rotating brush. That squeegee is outlined in this image as VACUUM SQUEEGEE:
Quote: I wonder if thsi happens because I didnīt use Scooba for a long time and may be dirt ... I suspect the long period of non-use has allowed residual debris (left in the dirty chamber by improper flushing after last cleaning mission) to dry out in places that now impact proper air-flow through the dirty-solution conduits in the Tank. Quote: ... May be I need to order other tank. ... A new Tank should work well, so long as the robot's blower is functioning, and its filter-screen is not clogged with debris.
But, before buying a new Tank, you may be able to clear the one you have by filling the dirty-chamber with warm water containing some dish-washing detergent. Let it soak for half an hour, or more, then dump out half the liquid, close the stopper and shake that Tank vigorously in all directions. Dump the remaining flushing liquid and give at a brief rinse. Test the Tank with the robot to see if liquid can be collected off the floor. |

Ok Gordon very instructive your explanation. I have just try with hot water and shake it but not with soak and leave it half and hour.So Iīll try. The fan work properly in the self test.
I would like to know your opinion about the Iīam stuck light on when I performed the self test 1,2 Pumping Operation.
thanks a lot for your time

The self-tests' table was prepared by watching the results (performance & display lighting) provided by an early-production model 5900. In many of the tests I have no way of knowing what the lighted indicators mean. |

OK Gordon this procedure it seems improve the perfomance. At least I saw more dirty water inside the tank and lesser on the floor. I plan to repeat the cleaning operation. Beside, may be would be interesting to give a try with white vinegar . I guess vinegar helps to dissolve salts from hard water, isnīt it?
Thanks folks. Iīll keep informed about the improvements.
