So... my discovery scheduler has been through a bit of rough times. As best I can tell the motor running the brushes completely died... but the sensors to determine when this occurred weren't working so it kept on going as if nothing was wrong. I didn't notice until so much dust had built up inside the little guy that it started doing the circle dance.

So after cleaning the wheel sensor (tachometer?) I noticed that I had only fixed the symptom and ordered a motor from roomba-exchange. The old motor was completely dead. The thing is after installing the new motor the brushes will spin when it's not touching carpet... but when it is the motor doesn't seem to be providing enough torque.

Has anybody else encountered this? Did I put it back together improperly? Is the dead motor just another symptom?

Thanks.

say, can you open up the motor up for me, it might be the brushes in the motor... so yea... also what kinda floor you have? anyway... the roomba doesn't pay much attention to those sensors... IDK why, my roomba's motor almost died because there was a paper towel stuck in my brushes... so ya...

Study the posts in this old thread...

...and see if you arranged the pull-up string, or the motor-rotation limit, incorrectly.
