I use hot water from the tap only. The tank and pumbing seems to do just fine. By the time the water gets on the floor it should almost be cool.

Really hot water will warp the black rubber pieces located on the bottom side of your Scooba that direct the water toward the vacuum pick up port.

I think warm or hot water can also either collapse the tubes or cause the pump diaphragm to stick shut. I recently repaired a scooba, which then went to a neighbor. She called a week later, saying the Check Tank light was coming on, preventing the scooba from running.

I took it back, and used a jury-rigged syringe-and-tubing to force water through the plumbing and pump. I felt something resist, then let go. After that, it worked fine. When I asked the new owner if she'd used warm or hot water (which I'd warned against), she gulped and said yes.

So that, I think, is why you should observe the instruction to use only cold water.

Oh dear  Guess that is one good reason to read the book BEFORE using the machine! Well, I'm using lukewarm water today for the first time in the month and a half since I've had the Scooba, although our water from the tap is never really hot, so hopefully I haven't done too much damage.

Good advice about the rubber squeegees, though, and a good idea to check and pull them tight so they get more water up.

Every day that I read this forum there's another good "save the day" subject presented. Thanks to all the posters who help with new ideas and advice here.
