from my previous attempts at trying to make the rootooth work with my roomba, i'm suspecting that something is wrong with the motherboard.
So i went to ebay to get myself a new roomba motherboard and new cog gears for the brush deck.
After I purchased the motherboard, the seller asked me how many pins is the dirt sensor connector on the motherboard, and I replied with 4 pins with one dirt sensor.
Since he didn't have any 4 pins motherboard, he gave me a 8 pins dirt sensor connector motherboard, as an extra, he gave me a completely new brush deck with two dirt sensor for free!
The only thing I have noticed in the new brush deck is that, there seems to be less gap between the cog gears and the brush deck plastic itself, makes it seems like it's not neccessary to do the ball bearing mod anymore.

What do you guys think?

Here is some information from their most recent BT device they have installed http://www.rovingnetworks.com/documents/BlueportII-ref-guide.pdf for the previous drivers used http://www.silabs.com/tgwWebApp/public/web_content/products/Microcontrollers/USB/en/mcu_vcp.htm

Other then the drivers it would likely be an issue with the PCB, I would check with whom you bought it from on ebay and be sure that it has the latest firmware, if not a firmware update can be installed.

In bakablah's case it is a bit difficult since the replacement PCB did not come with the date code, this is easily remedied by listening to the date code by following these instructions http://www.roombareview.com/chat/viewtopic.php?t=2767

The 7 command resetting your Roomba proves that the Com port is working. However that command is not part of the Open Interface command set. You may still need an OSMO update to 2.1

It will look that way for the first few uses, then the shaft of the gears coming through the deck will start to wear down causing the gap to widen and and the bearings won't fit correctly on the worn shafts.

Here's a picture I posted in another topic showing wear to the gear shaft of my Pet Scheduler after only 18 missions . . .

And here's a picture I posted showing the wear and tear to the gears of my re-manufactured Scheduler after only three months of use . . .

The bearings fit nice and tight on the new gears I purchased for the re-manufactured Scheduler without any modification, but even after just a few uses I had to place metal tape around the shafts to make the bearings fit tightly on the new but slightly used Pet Scheduler.

It's your call, but I'd do the mod before using the new gears myself!
