Should a Roomba 580 be left on the charger once charged? This is what I've been doing since purchase 4-29-08. :)

I have been leaving my Roomba on the dock all of the time. It's not like the Scooba to where you should unplug the charger after it's been charged.

Great :!: Thanks for replying. I did plug it into a surge suppressor because I had a problem in the past with a coffee maker burning out due to a lightening storm. :o

This is a very good idea. I also use a surge suppressor with my two. I also leave them plugged in all the time when not in use. The only time it's suggested you unplug them is if you are going away for more than a day or so such as on vacation.

Normally it stays plugged....I don't put the 580 to work every day. It cleans the floor every 2 to 3 days. :)

Every 2-3 days is Ok.
I sometimes may not use it for 4-5 days so I unplug when full.
Mine is still fairly new, so battery holds it charge well.

My take is that the robot should do a mission at least once a week, so leaving it on the charger that long doesn't cause problems. Unplugging it between missions allows the battery to drain. Better to keep it full.
