Hello !

As soon as the battery is connected the
left drive motor starts to spin and thus
the "Roomba SE" turns anti-clockwise, and
will not stop until the battery is removed.
This is in the "off-condition".
When e.g. "clean" is pressed it tries to move '
but shuts down to off again and spins as described above...

The delivery box says "item #5210" Roomba SE.

The H-bridge transistors seems Ok BUT I measure a short circuit over D3(1n4001),
my schematic is uncomplete here, but I think it is over the
Mosfet U11, and that I think is the sidebrush or am I wrong ?

Any suggestions, what part to change or measure ?

Thank you / Ken

When Roomba, on the floor, rotating anti-clockwise, pivoting about its undriven LEFT wheel, it is its RIGHT wheel that is doing the driving.

This is important, because the schematic I'm going to point you to, is for the RIGHT wheel driver. That is where the fault is located Quote: ...The delivery box says "item #5210" Roomba SE. Your Roomba is of a more recent mfr than the one (a 2004 vintage 4210) on which I have done all my RevEngrg, so we should expect some differences; however, I think there will be enough commonality to still allow useful work to get done. Quote: ...I measure a short circuit over D3(1n4001), my schematic is uncomplete here, but I think it is over the Mosfet U11, and that I think is the sidebrush or am I wrong ? Probably wrong, because I doubt the main_PWB design changed so much that main-brush-motor and side-brush-motor drivers got interchanged. On the 2004 version, D3 and U11 are main-brush-motor driver parts. Quote: Any suggestions, what part to change or measure ? To study the right-wheel's motor-driver schematic, search the forums for "schematic_2". To see the main-brush-motor driver, search for "schematic_6".

Thank you Gordon for your reply !

"Talking the same language":
In normal "driving position", on the floor, bumper looking forward
and you see the Roomba from behind, itīs the Left drivewheel
that spins backwards making the roomba rotate anti-clockwise
pivoting on itīs right wheel.
That should be the Q10 and Q9 turned on in the schematic_5 ?

The unit is about 1and-a-half year old, a Discovery SE so I think
4210 is the same as my 5210 but for Europe, correct ?.

Thanks again for answering Gordon !
To be continued / Ken.

Quote: ...That should be the Q10 and Q9 turned on in the schematic_5 ? Yes, those two xstrs would be the first things to examine. Quote: ... so I think 4210 is the same as my 5210 but for Europe, correct ?. ... I am not the one to answer about that bundle-for-Europe question, since I have spent no energy in tracking such info. However, re the PCB-circuit, its fairly safe for me to say: The only circuit change, I can think of in the 4XXX-series, pertains to the caster-wheel shift from non-swivel to swivel-type. All other functions remain much the same, even though board layout, and some labeling changes are known to have occurred.

MCU-firmware is known to have been modified over the years, but I can't accurately comment on those changes.
