I have a red Roomba 4100 and it just dawned on me why it won't touch the area rug or even start successfully if I place it on there. The rug has dark sweeping designs of burgundy and black and apparently the Roomba interprets those as potential black holes.

Does that mean there's no way to get it to clean the rug? Or is there some way around this?

Thanks,
Blake

There are directions somewhere on this forum for disabling the cliff sensors to get around this problem. Of course, if you do that you have to use virtual walls to block off stairways. The info might be in the READ FIRST sticky at the top of the forum. Otherwise do a search for cliff sensor workaround.

Too perfect, the cliff sensor doesn't really work on my particular roomba anyway so it will be no trouble living without it.

THANKS!
