When I insert the battery into my scooba all the light flash from the "service" light to "i'm stuck" and chimes 5 times scaling up then 5 time scaling down. After the chimes stop the lights continue to flash form "service" to "i'm stuck". The only way I can stop the lights flashing is to hold the power button down for a few seconds or take out the battery. I tested the battery by placing it in my other scooba and it functions fine. What should I do? :(

I have a Scooba 350.

The problem appears to be in Scooba's Power and Clean switch contacts. Those contacts are being kept closed -- possibly because the plastic membrane covering them has shrunk enough to press the switch elements into contact without you even touching them.

Hang on, and I'll dig out some links for you.

I'm back. Visit this page to read about Scooba's built-in self-testing; and, note, particularly, what happens when the test first start.

Next, read through these old threads to gain insight into the mechanical switch problems, and what extraordinary repair effort may be required to salvage Scooba.

Ohoo! I flew off the handle, and forgot to suggest: if your 350 has active warranty, by all means use it!
