| I mentioned in an earlier post that I was thinking of getting a Dirt Dog for the garage. I didn't mention, however, that our garage has a huge very low pile rug in most of it and am now wondering whether the Dirt Dog's bristles are so stiff that it would be destructive to the rug. Opinions? |

The rug might be destructive to Dirt Dog.
If I recall I think it was Geek Granny (Nancy, do you remember?) that said that the drag can cause DD to overheat bc the brushes spin faster than roomba.
How about a one-button Red? The cost is not that much different. |

| Yes, you should only use the DD on hard surfaces. Concrete, tile, patio, poolside, decking, linoleum etc. It is not made for any sort of drag to be placed on the brushes. |

| Gotcha. Thanks for the input. I guess I will have to go back to the old broom and dustpan! |

Actually, that is what the DD is. It's an automatic broom not a vacuum as that part is left out of it. |

| I use my DD on a smooth flat outdoor area carpet on my deck and a rough (older style, but very low pile ) outdoor carpet in a small area of the basement. I've checked and watched the DD in action and it doesn't get hot or overworked in those areas. I would not use it inside on pile and even berber might be an issue. You would need to test and see if it struggles or gets warm. I haven't had that issue. |
