I have model 4210 and one day it just quit. I gave it as a gift to my Dad and he never used it so I took it from him in Feb. 2008 after just 4 months of use it quit.

At first the power supply had a solid green light when plugged in to the wall. but not into the home base or Roomba.

I did a reset by removing battery, pressing and holding power button and reinstalling the battery.

I plugged the power supply into the Home Base and the light on the power supply went from solid green to flashing slowly yellow.

Both the POWER and the DOCKED lights on the Home Base went out completely. The Robot doesn't have any lights either.

IRobot said that it was broken and would have to replace the whole thing. Ever heard of one breaking after such a short period of use?

Thanks, Cheryl

Sad to say but sometimes that will happen to your Roomba. Did you happen to have a surge suppressor strip to plug your Roombas power supply into ? You can perform an Advanced Forum Search for "TVS" and possibly discover what may have happened to your robot.

Worse than that . . . Had a Pet Scheduler strip its gears right after starting off on its third run run, the first replacement did the same on run five or six, and the second replacement arrived DOA. When I received the third replacement I did Vic's bearing mod after it lasted through it's first few weeks of use and it's been working just fine since. (I know, I voided the warranty, but figured I'd already spent over $50.00 returning defective Roombas and didn't want to take a chance on having to waste more money than I already had!)
