| Welcome to the club. I hope you don't have to join the "my brushes don't turn" club. |

| I'm quite familiar with that club, and I can tell you the screw and sometimes the brush arm too is probably in the dustbin. Failing that find a 1 year old to cruise the house and it'll be turned up by them... |

Hi, just found this forum and would like to add a big "me too". I've owned my roomba 560 only for a month and already I've lost an arm (off the roomba :) ) is this normal ?
All the best

Yes, the side brush arm breakage issue is very well known and reported on this forum. This has been reported since the very beginning of the introduction of the 5XX model Roomba. Just recently IRobot introduced a new side brush with white color arms instead of red. This newer brush may be performing better but no one has posted either way on the newer brush.
The second reported issue is the brushes not turning and the "Please inspect and clean Roombas brushes" complaint. This is due to the introduction of debris into the brush gear box assembly.
The third issue involves the failure of one of the drive motors to function thus causing the Roomba to run in a circle. |

Thanks for the info vic7767, I've emailed irobot on mine but I'm uk so I guess its domotec I need to speak to. If I get the other coloured ones I'll post back on their life span.
Cheers

I put my 570 into use on February 5, 2008. From that date until May 12th I lost multiple arms from five separate side brushes. IRobot had sent me three new side brushes under warranty. These look like the original red brushes. From that date until today, I still have not lost any brush arms. So IRobot changed something.

I have two 535s and lost all the arms on the original brushes. I was sent some replacements (red) which have lost fewer, but still have lost some.

The newer brushes that iRobot sent me haven't broke yet. I've been using them for months now.
Has anyone confirmed the change of material from the older side brushes? |
