| This has probably been asked before but what is the best grease to use for the roomba? and what grease should i stay away from?? |

people here often use lithium grease, i personally use ceremic grease (i use those for my RC 4WD, its gears spins at very high speeds).
Avoid WD40 at all cost! it dries up! |

| Assuming for the side gearbox. I simply use Vaseline. A few small dabs on the gear teeth. |

| Vaseline melts at body temperature. Assuming the gear parts develop enough friction to get hotter than this, the vaseline would melt; then where would it run down? And where would it harden up again once it has cooled down? Perhaps you could do your own test by checking to see whether the Vaseline appears to be gone after running a week or two (or less). This might tell you whether you need something else as a lube. |

| I have cleaned the gearbox three seperate times since using the vaseline and haven't noticed any detrimental effects. Vaseline is a perfect lubricant for gear mesh. |
