Robot FAQ

What Is Roomba

The Roomba from iRobot, is a circular disc shaped vacuum cleaner. Unlike standard vacuum cleaners, Roomba does all the work for you. Roomba, which has 5 revisions - in 3 major generations - has changed substantially over the years but the basic principles are still the same: Brain + Wheels + Brushes + Vacuum = Clean floors for you!

Cleaning

NORMAL

Daily or after a whole house run (Note: use manual Phillips screwdriver not electric as the screws can quickly become stripped where they enter the plastic) You will quickly find out where dirt collects in your own environment so some of the steps may not be necessary and you can skip them.

I would strongly suggest doing these steps after every cleaning. Hopefully by using this as a Guide, you will get many, MANY productive years out of your robot.

Roomba 4xxx Beep codes

If your Roomba plays the "Uh-Oh" sound, with beeps, take note of the beeps, and find out what's wrong with your Roomba.

"Uh-Oh", plus 1 beep:

The main brushes are stalled. Turn the Roomba over, and remove the wire bale. Take out each brush, and look for something wound up in them preventing them from spinning.

What Is Create

The Create(TM) from IRobot(R) Corporation is the hackers' dream come true!

Create is basically a bare Roomba for which you can write your own codes and programs and then send them to the Create. Simple things from moving in a circle or getting out of complex patterns are all things that are achievable when using the create.
